So, you’ve taken out a software escrow agreement and had a verification test carried out to ensure that the system will rebuild from the latest deposit if there is ever a release event, but have you got access to the latest batch of data if the worst should happen? We are being increasingly asked about where the latest data can be accessed from in the event of supplier failure. It is common that a software supplier will not only supply and maintain your software but also host your data either on their own servers or using an outsourced provider (AWS, Azure, Rackspace etc.). We’ve discovered that asking your vendor for access to this data often results in a disappointing refusal as this forms part of your annual maintenance and support fees. If they were to provide a regular backup to you directly, a large proportion of these fees would be unnecessary resulting in a loss of revenue for them. It may also be the case that you don’t have the internal capacity to store this data securely yourselves.

It is imperative that you have a backup copy of your critical data and a mechanism to access and extract your data (often more critical than the software itself) should the worst happen. Escrow London provide SaaS and Data Escrow services that work autonomously or form part of a conventional escrow solution. We can agree a process with the software vendor where the data is uploaded to Escrow London’s data centre daily, weekly or monthly dependent on the frequency requirement.

Escrow London own a private dedicated data centre based in Cheshire where all your data can be transferred to and stored. Access to our FileLive system can be granted upon request where you can view the status of the data (and any other material) at any time. This mitigates the risk of critical data loss and gives you the peace of mind that your data can be accessed immediately in the event of a release.
